Day one
It has been 83 years since the evil dictator finally fell and we were able to start gathering ancient information again, but there was a small problem. During the reign of Vultar, he made sure that he burned any type of historic information so we could not know about any other ways of living. Due to all the burned information, there was no way to reference any type of history, and so there was no way we could create book to educate the next generation. Oh, my mistake, my name is Nixon and I am from the year 2153 and I am 21 years old. In 2060, a man known as Vultar was voted to be president, and as it turns out, he was an evil man. He tuned his people into working slaves, and anyone who objected was either tortured or killed. Then 83 year later, in 2143, he was finally put to rest. I work with a team of engineers and we have been working on creating a machine that would be able to go back in time and gain information about history. we call it a past machine, and it is a machine where we can time travel into the past, but not the future. I have been voted to go back to the time of ancient Greece and obtain information by the board of directers. I stepped into the car, said my good byes, and I was off to Ancient Greece. The ride was going to take about an hour, and the car had an automatic pilot system, so I started to doze off. I woke up to a loud crash and I blacked out. I was startled by a loud war cry, and as I stood up and looked around and wished I had not. Everywhere you looked there were men, weapons, and fires. Then I heard another scream come from behind me, and as I was turning around, I was greeted by a man in Greek armour. He stared at me, screamed, then knocked me out with the hilt of his sword.

Day two
My whole body had felt like it was on fire, and there was a constant ringing in my ears that would not go away. I finally open my eyes and all I see was a bright light. I close my eyes, and when I opened them again I saw a beautiful woman staring down at me. She had long flowing black hair, mysterious fiery eyes that were grey, a pale porcelain face, red full lips, and a body of a goddess. “Are you okay?” she asked. I looked down at my clothes and I was dressed in a white fabric covering from my chest to my knees. I also had a pair of sandals on my feet. I looked up again and the women who asked if I was okay, was looking down at me with a confused look on her face. I finally reply to her saying, “Yes I am okay. Who are you?” “ I am Althea, and I have been your nurse since you had lost consciousness. You were hit very hard on your head, and had a large cut on your side. The war is over, so you don’t have to worry about going back to battle. Do you have family nearby?” She was over whelming me with her questions. What war? Where am I even? And is this woman single? To answer her question I answer, “No I do not have any family nearby. Do you have any place I can stay for a little while? I would very much appreciate it.” She nods with a smile and says, “My family had died a long time ago, and I live alone. You can stay there for a little while. I do not live far, so your wounds should be okay. Let us go.”
After walking for a while, we came across a small house that was made out of white stone and it was enclosed. On the inside, there was a small yard and then the rest of the house. She lead me into the house which is a simple house without very many decorations. Althea takes a couple of turns, and then comes to a stop at a door. “Here is the guest room,” she said. “It has a bed and a bathroom. It is getting late, and I have things to attend to. I suggest you sleep for the night.” “Good night,” I said to her. She turned around and went out the door. I took off my clothing, and lyed in the bed that was in the room. Right before I fell asleep I realize, she did not even know my name.

Day three
I woke up the next morning to the knocking on my door. “Who is it?” I asked. “It is only I, Althea. There is some food for you in the kitchen. If you are hungry, which I presume you are, please get dressed and come to the kitchen please.” After I hear her footsteps fade, I got up, get cleaned and got dressed. I made my way into the kitchen and found vegetable soup. I sat down at the table and in the chair in front of Althea. I ate my soup in the silence that was causing me to get agitated . After I was finally done with the soup, I put the bowl away and then sat back down. Then Althea finally said, “There’s a nearby village we can go to if you would like. Or we could go see the Parthenon and pray. We are not far from either of them.” “I would love to go to both,” I replied. “But I do have to ask you something. You do not know me. You did not even ask for my name, and yet here I am, in your house and dining on amazing home-made food. Why did you let me come here? What if I was a thief looking for a house to loot?” And she replied with a straight forward answer, “ If you were a thief, why would you put yourself through so much just to loot a house? And since you brought it up, what is your name?” And so I tell her, “I am Nixon my lady.” “Well Nixon, I say we go to the Parthenon first,” Althea said as she got up and went out the door. After walking for a while, we came across a magnificent looking building. “What is this amazing building?” I asked Althea. “This is the Parthenon. It is a temple for Athena. It was originally a small, temple made out of lime stone, but we destroyed it to create a new temple made out of marble, but we were cut short when the Persians destroyed it. Then in 447 BCE, Pericles started re-constructing it again, using the left over parts of the temple after it was destroyed by the Persians. It was finished in 437 BCE. It is the prime jewel of Athens,” she explained. We went inside the temple, and I must say, the building was the most amazing thing I have seen. Althea and I ended up staying the whole day there, but she promised me that we would go see the market place tomorrow. I was lying in bed again when I realized something, Althea had very much looked like the statue of Athena. I think it was just me who thought that, so I put that aside, and let the drowsiness of sleep sink in.

Day four
I woke up the next morning, and I realized that the house was very quiet. I got up, got dresses, and walked to the kitchen. It looked like Althea had not waken up yet, so I took this time to make her breakfast. I made a simple breakfast for the both of us, and it was eggs with some fruit on the side. About twenty minutes later, Althea had finally come into the kitchen. “Good morning Nixon. I am sorry for waking up late,” she said as she walked in and sat down. “Oh no worries Althea, this is your house. I am sorry if I disturbed you with any noise. I did not wee you this morning, so I made breakfast for both of us. I am sorry that I did not ask permission to use your ingredients, but I wanted to make something for you as a thank you for yesterday’s meal,” I explained. “This is wonderful, thank you Nixon,” she replied. After we had finished our food, we went out to go to the market place. The market place was filled with little shops, put together to form a big circle. Each shop was different from each other. There were stores selling pottery, Jewry, seafood, vegetables, poultry, and clothes. There were also many small shops that had olives, grapes, and wine. While I was looking around, I saw Althea talking to the local people. She had such a beautiful smile, and she had such a kind heart. After a while, Althea had her arms full of bags. “Would you like me to carry something? I insist,” I asked. “Oh can you please? I am making us Moussaka for us tonight, it is a traditional Greek dish,” She explains. It turns out that Moussaka is actually just a baked casserole that is layered with eggplant, spiced meat, and is topped with white sauce. After dinner was over, I helped clean up, and then went to bed.

Day five,
I woke up the next morning and was greeted with a beautiful smile. “Good morning! I know you’re not from here, so I wanted to explain to you the rich history of Greece, so get up and get dressed, we have lots to discuss about,” Althea exclaimed. So I did as I was told. I got up, got dresses, and headed towards the gathering area, and there she was. Althea, sitting on the floor with books surrounding her. Her hair was tied in a braid and her eyes were glowing with excitement. She looked up at me and said, “Well, do not just stand there, come down here and let me explain.” So I sat down and she just started to pour everything on me. “Since there is a lot to cover, I will start with the basics. Where we are right now is Athens, and our patron goddess is Athena. Athena is one of the twelve Olympian gods and goddesses. Zeus, king of Olympus, is her father. Poseidon, god of the sea, and Hades, god of the underworld are Zeus’ brothers. Demeter, goddess of agriculture, Hestia, goddess of the hearth, and Hera, goddess of marriage and fertility are his sisters. Hera is also Zeus’ wife. Zeus and Hera have two children. Hephaestus, god of black smiths and Ares, god of war. Hephaestus’ wife is Aphrodite, goddess of love. Zeus has several more children who are gods and goddesses, and they are Athena, Artemis, Apollo, Hermes and Dionysus. Artemis is the goddess of maidenhood and hunt. Apollo is the god of medicine, music, and light. Hermes is the messenger of the gods, and Dionysus is the god of wine.” She went on and on about mythology and each story has a lesson within it. She also explained how they believed in their myths and not a religion, and that each myth has a lesson to be learned.

Day six
I awakened the next morning with a crick in my neck, and that was when I realized I had fallen asleep on the floor with the books surrounding me. I felt something move and when I looked down, I saw Althea there, sleeping, taking small breaths, and smiling peacefully. She looked so at peace and beautiful. I had no idea a human could look so beautiful. I did not want to disturb her, so I moved away slowly and carefully. When I walked into the kitchen, I made breakfast and took it to her. When I got back she was still sleeping so I woke her up and after we ate she was back to explaining more about Greece. “Greece was at war a lot, but mostly with ourselves. We are made up of city-states, and each city-state thinks that they’re better than the other, so they argue, and then the outcome is usually war. Our most recent war was against Persia, and we call it the Persian war. The cause was because a Persian province rebelled, and a Greek man led the rebellion. This made King Darius, king of Persia upset, and set out for blood. After he died, his son, Xerxes took over and it was a long battle for both sides. We were finally able to unite and defeat the Persians at the battle of Salamis, when the Persians were being forced through a strait that was too small for them. We took that advantage and defeated them. Winning that battle at Salamis gave us hope in winning the war. We ended up creating a naval fleet.” So then I asked, “Why do you think that I do not know any of this?” “You’re eyebrows are scrunched together, and you have this confused look on your face. Anyway, it’s getting late so we should go to bed. Goodnight Nixon.” Althea said. “Good night.”

Day Seven
Something is strange. While Althea and I were strolling around her garden in front of her house, an unusual man came up to have a private discussion with her. I walked back toward the house but I did not go back into the house. I wanted to hear their conversation, but when I leaned in to listen, all I heard was the soft blowing of the wind. I looked all over the house, but I did not find them, so I decided to go to the one place I have not yet gone into. The attic. After I arrived in the attic, I noticed the armory and paintings set up in the room. The paintings were the images of the gods and goddesses. I came across a painting of a woman, and I was able to recognize who it was. It was Athena, goddess of wisdom and battle strategy. The more I stared at the woman’s face, the more I could see the resemblance of Althea in Athena. I looked down from the painting, only to see a magnificently glowing shield, but with the most hideous face engraved onto it. I went about looking through the rest of the room when I finally heard voices and footsteps coming up to the attic. “I know father wants me to go back home, but until I find out where this man is from, and what kind of magic he used to get here, I am not leaving,” a feminine voice said. A male voice then answered, “I know you mean well, but the fighting at home is constant. You are usually the one that comes up with a solution, but since you are not there, everyone is fighting. Soon, we are going to be at war again, and the family does not need that now.” Their voices were just outside the door, and I had no way to escape. i was looking for a place to hide, when the two people talking outside, walked in. One of them was Althea, and she had a look of burning rage. “YOU WILL NOT REMEMBER THIS DAY! WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN AND HEARD WILL NOT BE REMEMBERED AND YOU’RE MEMORIES WILL FADE!!” she exclaimed. Before I had time to react, I had crumpled on the floor.

Day eight
I woke up, but my body had felt like it had been put through a meat grinder. I was stretching, trying to get the pain to ease when I was greeted with, “good morning Nixon, I must head out for the day to discuss family matters with my extended family, but I will be back by nightfall. While I am gone, please do not go up into the attic,” and with that, Althea turned and left. After lunch, I had cleaned the house, took care of the garden, and read through the history books. I was wondering in the house when I came across the stair case to go into the attic. I know I was told not to go in there, but curiosity got the best of me, so I walked in. The paintings and the objects around the room seemed vaguely familiar, but I could not figure out why I think I have seen anything standing in this room. Then when I came across the picture of Athena, it all came back to me. The similarity between the painting of Athena and Althea, the conversation I heard from outside the door, and Althea erasing my memory. These things did not seem to add up. Also, the sudden disappearance of Althea and the strange man the day before seemed suspicious. I was finally able to add everything together. Althea is Athena. There was no mistake, and I was sure of it. I walked down stairs, and not two minutes later Althea walked in greeting me happily, “hello Nixon! How was your day?” I smiled and said, “oh it was splendid. I was able to open my eyes to the truth and realize that you are Athena.” My smile turned into a straight face, and Althea looked surprised. “I told you not to go into the attic. Yes, I am Athena, but since you know who I am, should I not know who you are?” “My name is Nixon, and I was sent to study about Greece.” I replied and I ran out the house. There was only one way to get out of this place. To find my machine, and time travel back to my time. I was searching the area where I landed in, when I came across a cave, and because it was getting dark, I decided to spend the night in there.

Day nine
"We can not just leave him here, I know he is looking for his strange machine to go back to where he was from. I was the one to heal him, it is only fair that I help him until the end. He had no intention of harming any person. I should have told him, but I did not," a woman's voice said. I was easily able to recognize the voice, and it belonged to Athena. "Athena, with all due respect, I do not need your help, I just want to get home. The faster I find my machine, the faster you will not have a nuisance in your presence." "Nixon, my half-brother here, Hephaestus, is the god of black smiths. If we locate you're machine you brought here, I think that he will be able to fix the machine, no matter what condition it is on," Athena proposed. "Fine," I said, "but as soon as we find it and fix it, I will be gone, and we will return back to our normal lives." We left the cave, and we searched for the time machine for the rest of the afternoon. It was not until it was almost sunset when we were able to locate my car. When I looked at it, I had very little faith that it was going to run. That was when Hephaestus spoke up, “This looks like it is in very bad condition, but it is a piece of machinery, so should be able to fix it. Will you two step away? I will call you when I finish.” Athena and I left Hephaestus to do his work. “Knowing Hephaestus, the machine will be done soon. I know you wanted to leave tonight, but please. Come back to the house to rest for the night. Then in the morning, you will be fully rested for your journey home,” Athena offered. “Fine, but first thing in the morning I am going home,” I replied. We walked back to the house, and after about 2 minutes, I had fallen asleep on the bed.

Day 10
I woke up to a beautiful voice calling me from my slumber. Then I remembered that it was the voice of a woman that had lied to me as well as erased my memory. I got up, wishing that I could erase my mind from this trip. To just go home and wake up, and not falling in love with a woman that was a goddess. I walked out of the house and back to the cave where my car was waiting for me. Hephaestus was there standing next to my car. When I walked up to him, he said, “this is quite and invention of yours. It was a bit difficult to fix, but nothing that I cannot do. I am sorry to day that my sister will not be here to send you off today. She told me to tell you to have a safe trip, and that she had something she had to attend to.” “It’s fine. Tell her thank you for everything and to take care of herself,” I said as I hopped into my car and flew away. About two hours was all it took for me to get back home. After I got home, I went to the office to tell them as much as I could about the journey. After a long talk at the office I finally went home, but when I got home, there was a smell that was unfamiliar, but welcoming at the same time. I walked into the kitchen, and there she was. Standing with her beautiful smile in the kitchen. “You did not thing that I was going to leave you without a goodbye now did you?” she asked. “But how?” I asked. “It doesn’t matter. I am here with you. Friends or not, I will be here by your side,” she replied as she crashed into my chest to give me a warm hug.
